Q

I am getting headaches lately. Can physical therapy help?

A

Headaches have many triggers such as carrying heavy loads overhead, poor posture, shoulder muscle weakness, or excessive computer time. Forward head and neck post ure places strain on the upper cervical joints, inhibits the proper stabilizing neck muscles which could trigger a headache. Maintaining good post ure enables the body to recruit the correct stabilizing muscles to release joint stress.

Physical Therapy can be instrumental in treating headaches to release pain. Your therapist will evaluate your neck, restore neck mobility, build strength and help reduce post ural misalignment.

You can see a physical therapist at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy without a physician's referral and most insurance companies cover this.
