Originally from South Africa, Carrol has been a Physical Therapist for 21 years. She initially received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy in 1987. She completed a post-professional Masters degree (MHS), in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, from the University of Indianapolis in 1997. She is a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Physical Therapy association and is also a Certified Pilates Instructor (CPI).
Keeping up with the latest research and techniques is important to Carrol and thus she continues to attend several continuing education courses annually. Carrol has strong background in Australian Maitland manual therapy techniques for the spine and extremities and has completed several manual therapy courses including Mulligan practitioner courses and Butler's neural tension. She also has completed Level III through the North American Institute for Manual Therapy.
Carrol is passionate about physical therapy and how it can improve a patients' quality of life. Not only by relieving their pain, but also by teaching patients about their bodies, specific body types, and movement dysfunctions; so that they can avoid pain down the road, whether they are an athlete, gardener, recovering from surgery, or suffering from a motor vehicle accident.
Outside of physical therapy, Carrol is involved in her children's sporting activities. She has volunteered as an injury officer at her son's Pop Warner games and is an avid supporter of her daughter's, Girls on the Run and soccer teams. She is also a member of the Samaritan WISH foundation, a giving circle of women, dedicated to helping others.
Carrol believes in balance, and in her spare time loves to cook, garden, spend time at the gym, spinning, doing Zumba, or the occasional 5K, traveling, and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Laura is originally from San Jose, CA where she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development at San Jose State University. She competed in intercollegiate and Olympic Development soccer and coached Girl's Varsity Soccer at her local high school for 5 years. She completed a Master's of Science degree in Motor Development at Indiana University in 1997 where she studied human movement with focus on children and women during pregnancy. She completed a second Master's Degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Physical Therapy in 2000.
She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a certified Sportsmetrics™ Instructor. She has a personal interest in sports medicine related injuries including the shoulder, ankle and knee in youth and adult as well as sacroiliac dysfunction and instability.
She has a focus in whole body, functional movement and rehabilitation and correcting dysfunction to improve sport performance and active living. She is working through her Sports Physical Therapy Certification through the North American Sports Medicine Institute. She is the Program Coordinator for the Pre-Therapy and Allied Health Program in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences at Oregon State University. She is a clinical instructor for the Pre-therapy and Athletic Training programs at Oregon State as well as a clinical instructor for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Physical Therapy Program.
When away from Physical Therapy, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching athletic events, faux painting and she dabbles in gardening and cooking.
Parwana is originally from Boulder, Colorado, where she attended the University of Colorado. She received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology in 1999. She then attended the University of Colorado Heath Sciences Center where she completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2002.
Currently, Parwana is the only physical therapist in the mid-valley area specializing in the evaluation and treatment of performing artists, including dancers. As a former dancer and competitive gymnast, Parwana understands firsthand the various demands placed on the performing artist and she is able to provide specialized and targeted care for these athletes. She has extensive continuing education training through the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries in New York City.
Aside from her interest in the performing arts, Parwana also enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions. She has attended multiple continuing education courses for orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, and is progressing through her training by the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. She is a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the orthopedic section of the APTA. In addition, she is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.
In her spare time, Parwana enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and taking part in outdoor activities.
Shawn is originally from North Dakota and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa in 1996. At the U of I, she was a 5-time letter winner in Cross Country and Track and Field and an Academic All-American. She completed her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and shortly after opened an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. She also taught Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School.
Shawn is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. Her personal interests include sports injuries as well as low back, sacral and pelvic dysfunctions, especially in women who are or have been pregnant or menopausal. She has attended various courses focusing on Pilates, orthopedics, and manual therapy for sacro-iliac joint dysfunction.
Shawn enjoys spending time with family, watching athletic events, entertaining friends and family, and traveling.
Kerry is originally from the Midwest, growing up in Iowa and living in Wisconsin before moving to Portland in 2001. She has called Corvallis home since 2006. Kerry received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 1995. She attended the University of Iowa's physical therapy program, graduating in 1997 with her Master's in Physical Therapy.
Since graduation, Kerry's practice has focused on outpatient orthopedics. Continuing education courses have been taken in a variety of manual therapy techniques, including muscle energy, strain & counter-strain, and mobilization techniques. Since 2004 her area of specialty has been Women's Health issues (incontinence, pelvic pain, prenatal/post-partum issues, coccyx pain, etc). She is anticipating completing requirements for the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2009.
Kerry enjoys being the mother of two toddlers, recreating in Oregon's outdoors, and traveling.
Lisa is a native Oregonian. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in 1994. She completed her Masters of Physical Therapy degree in 1998 from the University of Puget Sound. Her work experience has covered many settings, including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care in hospitals, outpatient neurological therapy and worker's compensation. Her primary work experience since 1999 has been in outpatient orthopedics.
Lisa has a special interest in orthopedic injuries, spinal therapy and orthopedic post-operative therapy. She has taken a variety of continuing education courses in orthopedics and manual therapy. Manual therapy training includes joint mobilization (Mulligan, Maitland and NAIOMT), myofascial release, muscle energy and strain/counterstrain. She has also taken more specific continuing education courses for foot dysfunction, lumbar/pelvis, shoulder, fibromyalgia and headaches/cervical spine.
Lisa's personal interests include gardening, snowshoeing, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Lisa is on maternity leave starting May 2009. header
Craig is a native Oregonian. He grew up in Eugene and graduated from Oregon State University in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Craig attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR where he graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
During his time at OSU, Craig worked as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor focusing on strength and conditioning for intramural athletes. Craig became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2006.
Growing up, Craig participated in junior golf through the OGA and has continued to have moments of exhilaration and moments of anguish on the course. Through this experience Craig has developed a special interest in working with golf related injuries and golf fitness to improve the joy of the game. He anticipates completing the Titleist Performance Institute's Certified Golf Fitness Instructor training.
Craig is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has general interest in treating orthopedic injuries and spinal dysfunction in both athletic and nonathletic populations throughout the life span. Craig's physical therapy background is founded in exercise based rehabilitation and manual therapy (Maitland approach). He performed his thesis on the use of lumbar stabilization exercises for the treatment of subacute, recurrent, or chronic low back pain.
Craig enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching and participating in athletics, watching movies, and camping.
Tracey Walker moved from Northern Virginia to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 2003, after graduating from Northern Virginia Community Colleges' Physical Therapist Assistant Program. She completed her Associates of Applied Science with an Award of Academic Excellence in 2002.
Tracey has been practicing as a massage therapist for over 12 years and believes that therapeutic touch is an important factor in rehabilitation and wellness. She has taken many courses in soft tissue modalities, including Myofascial Release, taking a holistic approach to wellness. Tracey excels at assessing and releasing soft tissue restrictions which may be causing pain, decreased range of motion, stiffness and weakness. She practices Bikrams' yoga and Pilates on a regular basis.
She enjoys hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing, camping, and spending time with her family and friends as well as her two Italian Mastiffs, Francesca and Sophie.
Halle is a "born and raised Oregonian". She attended Union College in Lincoln Nebraska for her undergraduate studies completing them in 1997. Deferring her acceptance into physical therapy school, Halle spent a year Guatemala volunteering with an orphanage run by International Children's Care. Here she became fluent in Spanish. Returning to the U.S. she resumed her studies at Loma Linda University in Southern California. Graduating with her Master's in Physical Therapy in 2001 she started practice in rehabilitation of both the neurologic and orthopedic populations. In June of 2002 she completed her Doctorate in physical therapy.
In 2004, Halle completed the rigorous 12 month Kaiser orthopedic residency program and also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She then moved into sub-acute rehabilitation while studying and passing her Orthopedic Certified Specialist Exam through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2005.
Halle has completed course work varying from vestibular and balance to bike fit and running analysis. She is currently looking forward to and is working towards completing the initial steps to join The North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) for a fellowship.
Her greatest love is of the outdoors and frequently wishes she could "make PT an outdoor job". Her passion for mountain biking, kayaking, and running and traveling keep her busy with her dog on the weekends.
