Dear CSSPT Staff, and especially Amanda, Carrol and Linda,
I just wanted to send you a note of gratitude and thanks.
My shoulder surgery was in January 2018 and beforehand I had written a note to myself to open 12-18 months after surgery.
I opened it up last week and it was good to remind myself of all the reasons I decided on surgery, which included all of the following:
- Neck and forearm pain
- Sharp twinges in my anterior shoulder
- Aching soreness int he back of my shoulder
- Biceps weakness and pain
- Right arm fatigue and weakness
I knew it would be too easy to forget all of these, once I got through the long healing and rehabilitation process.
I am not back to weight lifting, bicycling, hiking and, most important my favorite activity, swimming without any limitations.
Thanks for helping me get here!
K

Here’s a special “Thank You” to Theresa for your warm and gracious help with my post-surgery recovery. Especially appreciated is your kindly guidance to not only perform the exercises correctly, but also to understand exactly what I’m trying to accomplish with each one. I find great value in your selection of highly effective exercises to address my specific concerns, your explanation of correct breathing during workout, and your counsel regarding ways to improve my walking habits.
Great job Theresa!

How great to be treated in a place where people listen, observe and tailor my treatment to my specific needs. You made all the difference in my rehabilitation and put me on the road to health.
Thanks to all of you!

Corvallis Sport and Spine,
Upon my return home from one of my infrequent forays into town it was inescapable not to notice a vase of beautiful red, white, and blue flowers adorning my porch in commemoration of the 242nd birthday of my beloved United States Marine Corps.
I was incredibly humbled by your kind thought and action. No one has ever given me flowers on this historic day nor recognized me as a Vietnam era veteran in such a loving and respectful manner as your have on this occasion.
I have been bestowed a cherished honor. Thank you.
God Bless the United States Marine Corps.
Semper Fidelis,

You people are awesome! From Carrol to Amanda, to all the receptionists, aides, techs, interns and support staff, everyone there has been positive and professional to me.
I can’t say that about any other provider I have been to in my 20 years in Corvallis. You are the best, and I do recommend you to all my friends.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for NOT minimizing my complaints and truly helping me.
I may not be cured, – there is no cure 🙂 – but I have tools and feel empowered thanks to you.
Malinda C.
My back feels much better and I was able to take on the challenge of 1200 steps to the top of the Great Wall in China. Thank you!

Carrol,
I just wanted to let you know what a great team you have with Theresa.
In recent months I have been receiving care for hip problems and for painful knees. In addition to pain, both conditions have caused me to present with considerable limited mobility, stopped posture , pronounced limp and a list to one side and lost muscle mass.
Through the team’s positive attitude, well thought-out exercise plans, clear demonstrations, helpful workouts and through Theresa’s skillful manipulations, knowledge of many exercise routines to implement the team’s plans and her pleasant personality, and because of both of this encouragement, I am now feeling better than i have in several years. My posture has improved, I have gained some lower limb strength , I can walk without cramping and have less of a limp. Best of ll my level of pain has decreased considerably.
In the past, I have been to other PT offices and and never felt satisfied with the treatment or the results. I appreciate that your therapists do not leave the patients and spend the entire exam with them to make sure that they are moving correctly and are given cues to improve.
Thank you for having such a friendly and competent office staff!
-Grant C.
When I first came to CSSPT, my low back was in constant pain. Through the exercise and self correction techniques Theresa taught me , my pain has greatly diminished. Learning the correct body mechanics has been great! I’ve gained strength and really appreciate all of your expertise, patience and help in helping me help myself. Thanks!
-Tracey W.
My experience with the entire staff at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy has been exemplary. Their positive attitude and sensitivity encouraged me to do my exercises and really progress! I found that everything was explained clearly. I especially appreciated the anatomical discussions on how my ankle was supposed to work – it helped me visualize what needed to be achieved. In short, this is such a great place – I am a bit sad that I don’t need to be coming back!

-Brett
My PT experience has been wonderful! It’s mid March now and I am a joyful walker, gardener and yoga student. I came to PT in mi January unable to walk one step without lots of pain. The exercises I have been given REALLY WORK! The enthusiasm of Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy is delightfully contagious – lots of positive energy!
-Thank you,
Avery N.

I came to you in misery due to Benign Positional Vertigo. Not so benign.Every day the dizziness kept me from moving and doing the way I wanted. Carol fixed the BPV on the first visit and each visit we worked on balance and neck mobility! Feel Great! If I need PT again, I will be back!
Thank you!

Thank you so much for evaluating Katie’s wrist yesterday. It meant a lot to have that personal connection and guidance on how to deal with her wrist. It was also great to have her hear directly from your about awareness of body mechanics. We both appreciate you taking the time to offer your expert advice.
Thanks so much!

To Shawn and all who own Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy,
Thank you so much for helping me with my shoulder problem. As Shawn knows I went somewhere else and didn’t get all the way better. Shawn knew exactly how to help me right away and I now have full range of motion in my right arm! Shawn is a real gift to those who have her as a therapist. All the women who work at the desk were friendly and helpful.
Thank you all so much!
-Trudy F.
My treatment was an overall positive experience so finding room for criticism is difficult. What “wow’d” me was taking the time to explain muscle purpose and improved ways of using them in order to prevent further injury. No pressure or rushing through the appointment. Concern in overall progress. Carrol and Theresa both treated me as though I was the most important person of the day. My care was superb with no feeling of being rushed. Went above my expectations for comfort and care!
-Lisa L.
Jill H. called she wanted me to pass on a HUGE THANK YOU! She is feeling better. She ran a half marathon a couple of weeks ago and has been rock climbing. She is feeling great. Thank you again!!! She is letting her friends know that worked have done an amazing job. Thank you~Thank you~Thank you!
Carrol,

Shelly S.
Charity, Molly, and Carrol,
I owe you more than mere words can express. We’ll be on our way south next week; thanks to you I’m looking forward to many more trips where Roxanne and I can Work, Live, and Play again.
B2 to all,
AR
P.S. In case there are more Mariners in the workforce, B2 is a Navy signal for meaning Well Done.
Dear Carrol,
The kindness, professionalism, and relief you and your staff showed me was “over the top” fabulous! I have always prided myself with being in good health and when I was totally incapacitated with pain, I was miserable and scared. After only four treatments with you and your skilled staff, I was up and “running”, at work, and vertically pain free. This was a “gift” beyond words, beyond quantifying. Thank you for the gift of tomorrow…pain free and active. I will forever speak words of praise for your clinic and what you offer Corvallis.
Healthy Again,
Rosemary
Dear Friends,
Words cannot express my appreciation for the wonderful care I received at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy. My physical therapy was a positive experience given that I was not looking forward to knee replacement surgery. The staff was so professional, pleasant, compassionate, and friendly. I am doing so much better now and would recommend you to anyone and everyone. I will miss my dear friends so very much and might have to stop in just say “hi” to everyone. Charity, Joey, Molly, Theresa, Carrol, and all the staff have just been amazing!
With much love and appreciation,
Kimmie
I want to thank everyone for a positive, knowledgeable, and speedy recovery for my shoulder. Thanks for everything!

Carrol and Laura,
I want to compliment you on the customer care of your staff, including the front desk people. I thought right off that either you hired really exceptional people, or you did an outstanding job of training. Its obvious to me now that both are true. Kudos for running such an exceptional organization.
Sincerely,
Mark W.

Parwana,
Thank you for your expert and compassionate treatment! I appreciate you being my PT. You are the best! I hope to go on with fewer musculoskeletal aches – and will!
I wish you the best,
Kathy N.
As you know, 2010 was a tough year for me physically. However, it did have an enjoyable aspect to it and that was my experience with Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy. Your staff was ALWAYS professional and friendly. I knew I was in good and safe hands, and if physical therapy can be enjoyable, you and your staff made it so. I find myself getting better and know my quality of life will not be influenced by my accident. I have you to thank for that. So, I do thank you for all your efforts in getting me healthy.
They were successful and I think of my experience at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy each day… especially when doing my exercises!
With heartfelt thanks,
Doug I.
Shawn,
My sincerest thanks for the excellent care you provided me over these past many months. Your expertise, professionalism, compassion and moral support were ‘above and beyond,’ so very much appreciated, and of tremendous help in my coping with the relentless pain.
Thank you again,
Aggie H.
Parwana,
Thanks because:
- I can now pull sweatshirts on over my head.
- I can reach items above my shoulder.
- I can swim!
You are fabulous! After many months, I feel fine!

Parwana,
I want to thank you for all your care and attention to my shoulder over the last couple of months. I learned a lot and still need to make more time in my day to take care of myself but you gave me lots of good information to take care of my shoulder. I appreciate you working with me.
Thanks!
Cathy S.
Craig,
One morning in late September 2009, I woke up and my shoulder hurt. I must have slept wrong, it will be better once I move around a bit. It was not suppose to be a 14 month ordeal of random pain that changed on a daily basis. It was not suppose to be can’t pull the seine net, hurt to lift the fish trap, can’t do my job, hurt to ride my horse, lose the entire ski season, hurt to pick up my toothbrush, can’t work in my garden, owe, owe, owe, 20, 30 times a day. It wasn’t supposed to be, but it was. I don’t know if another physical therapist would have seen me through all that. But what I do know is, you did. Somehow, “gee thanks” just didn’t seem to cover it.
Karen H.
Thank you so much Parwana! I’ve learned a lot and I feel confident now that this injury is getting better and will finally heal. I enjoyed working with you very much.
Thanks again,
Laura
A big thank you for your donation to my fundraising campaign. Probably goes without saying, I wouldn’t even be doing this if it weren’t for you. I feel truly blessed to have found you and for the many times you’e brought me back from the brink of hopelessness. You and Carrol have created an oasis of empowerment and healing in the otherwise sterile world of medicine. You are the best!
Love,
Mary
Thanks so much for the donation! You know I wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for you. Laura – you once told me in a very dark moment that you would never give up on me……..and you haven’t, and I will be eternally grateful! Training is going well and so are the exercises you gave me. I even survived the move!
Carrol and Tracey,
I just got back last night from the South Sisters trip. YES, we did make it to the top!!! Thanks for your help and encouragement. From our campground at Devil’s Lake it was a round trip of 12 or so miles and an elevation gain of 4900 feet to the 10,358 foot summit.
The terrain was very steep for the last several miles and definitely a grueling hike which took us 9.5 hours. We arrived back at our camp a little after dark. The knee did well all the way to the top, but started to complain on the way down. It was definitely unhappy when we finished, but nothing a little rest won’t relieve. It feels pretty good today.
Thanks again,
Andy H.
Thank you, Carrol!
I survived the McKenzie, in 20 minutes less than last time.
Thanks again!
Desiree
Dear Carrol, Tracey, and wonderful staff at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy,
Thank you so much for everything! When I first came to you I didn’t know if my back and neck could ever be the same again, but thanks to you I am feeling much better and my strength and balance are even better than before my injury. I can play soccer, ride horses, and run again. Plus I know exercises that will help me throughout life.
Thank you!!!
Katie
Carrol,
It seems like it’s been ages since I’ve been in, but I wanted to send my thanks your way. I ran my first half marathon on Sunday in Port Angeles and loved it. Thank you for all the work you did with my hip and foot. It made the run possible. Also, my shoulder and jaw have been so much better since you fixed them up. I must say I’m a little sorry that there’s nothing wrong with me any more. I miss coming in!
Kerry E.
Laura,
Thanks for taking such good care of Alie. She enjoyed you and your clinic. Hope to meet you sometime.
Take care and thanks,
Christy
Laura,
Thank you for your never-ending support, encouragement, and ability to keep me focused on a healthy and active future no matter the frustrations or pain. I am so thankful to have met you and will always appreciate all you have done for me.
Hugs and a happy spine,
Anje
To Carrol and the great staff at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy,
I was really upset about my injury and not being able to do all the things I love, but with your fantastic help I’m back playing Frisbee, volleyball, and rafting with my friends. You were helpful and kept me patient and I can’t thank you enough!
Nathan
Laura,
For many years I suffered muscle pain along one, the other, or both sides of my spine until my PT appointment with you last April. You quickly zeroed in on my night time sleeping position over the past 72 years and since then I have worked VERY HARD to break the habit. The result has been pain relief most of the time. It’s like a MIRACLE! I’ve sang your praises hundreds of times. Thank you for your keen knowledge and awareness of the probable cause. Of course, the exercises are an important bonus too. My best to you with gratitude.
Louise
To the entire staff at CSSPT,
incere and huge thanks to all of you at CSSPT. From my first phone call to you, to my last appointment, every contact with you has been exceptional. IN my first calls to you, each person showed caring and kindness as the appointments were being set up and many questions were answered.
As I anxiously awaited my first appointment, my therapist kindly called and have me more answers to my questions and more importantly – hope. We got right down to business. What needed to be done to obtain a full recovery. Her directions were clear, with a written plan for me to work on between appointments. She was always patient with me and kept me “on track.” She also never made me feel that goals (and recovery) couldn’t be met despite my age.
Working together, with a plan that was very effective, has allowed me to happily return all my sports. In a few weeks I will ski the 40k race I missed last year due to the injury followed by the Eugene Marathon in May (postponed from last year too). Next year – bicycle across Canada!
Thank you to each of you for making this possible.
Becky
If painful therapy could be fun – you make it so! Thank you for helping me.
Pati
Thanks Carrol, for making physical therapy if not painless at least fun!
Alexis W.
Ms. Esterhuizen,
I have had the fortunate opportunity to work with a patient of yours recently. Needless to say, your reputation precedes you! I am very impressed with the positive impact your attentive care and physical therapy expertise has had for this individual’s health and well being.
Matthew H., LMT
Carrol,
Thank you so much for fixing my knee. I’m done with Basic Combat Training and on to AIT (job training). I’m really excited, but I will be in North Carolina for 2 months. I hope all is going well in Corvallis. I wish I was there (it’s way too hot here). My 2-mile time is down in the 14 minute mark. Thanks again for fixing me. I couldn’t have done it without your help!
Bryan N.
Hi Carrol,
I think of you with gratitude every morning when I’m doing my exercises in the dark. My workmates just smile politely when they walk in on me doing the armpit neck stretch in front of the coffee machine. The thrill of having my neck back just hasn’t worn off yet. I feel wonderful.
Thank you again,
Linden
Carrol,
Wow! Who would have thought I would ever be able to go ice skating! You take this ole’ beat up body–first injuries from a car wreck, then the consequences of a ruptured brain aneurysm, and now knee injuries from a fall–and somehow you put the pieces back together and make all the parts work like they’re supposed to! I will forever be grateful for everything you have done for me. You offer more than physical therapy. Your care and concern, your philosophy and positive spirit provide healing for the soul as well. Each time I have come back in with a new problem, I feel as if I am coming home, to a safe place where I can heal, and I come out even stronger than I was before the thing that sent me to you.
Thank you and all the staff at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy.
Valerie C.
Dear Laura,
Thank you so much for you cheerful, competent, supportive care for my shoulder rehab. I am so pleased at how my shoulder works now – and everyday I repeat the mantra, “I lock the blade!”
Blessings,
Wolfgang D.
What a great experience it has been! Thanks to each of you for making a difference in my life.
Caroline G.
Hi Carrol! Just a little note to say “thanks!”
You have managed to bring together an awesome, cheerful, and dedicated crew – no small task! Your personal dedication to the health and well-being of the Corvallis community is much appreciated – your practice is a gem in our town.
And, thanks to Ann and Parwana for bending my various body parts back to their normal positions. They were a joy to work with and on many occasions, made my day just a bit brighter!
Suzanne P.
Dear Laura,
I just had to write to let you know I AM DOING GREAT! And to thank you again for the critical role you’ve played in my recovery. I feel like I’ve got my life back again! I often think of how different things might be now if you hadn’t insisted on getting a second opinion last winter. I will always be grateful!
I am running again; I joined an athletic club; I do aerobics regularly; and I even did some skiing this winter. Developing the core has definitely been the key. I feel like I finally know how to work the shoulder I’ve been carrying around all my life. I’ve often thought about scheduling an appointment with you just so you can celebrate the difference with me. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Love, Mary
I just wanted to thank all of you there for the awesome job you did helping me after my knee surgery. I am back on the road and running hard, so all the hard work with my physical therapy really has paid off.
Shawn,
Just wanted to write you a note to say thank you! I was in a lot of pain and hardly able to walk during my pregnancy. I am so thankful I found you because you made me feel 100% better. Without you I think I would have had a difficult pregnancy. I will miss you when I move away.
CB
To Everyone at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy,
Thank you so much for your excellent care, fine wit, and detailed service.
Keith B.
Carrol and Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy Staff,
I have been in Wisconsin visiting my sisters and everyone is so amazed at my agility compared to last year when I was hobbling around painfully with my cane and every move was contemplated and analyzed before making it. I’m practically a bolt of lightening now? Thank you again for getting me through the months of pre-op pain and for teaching me to walk again afterwards. I am doing really well and have no pain at all. My balance is also improving.
Thank you again for helping me through those months of pain and recovery. It would have been miserable without you!
Love Charlene P.
Hello Laura,
WOW!!
The difference today from yesterday morning is astounding. All day yesterday I found that sitting no longer held terror and pain, today also. I don’t think there are words that would convey the feelings of gratitude that I have for you. I truly, have not experienced pain-free sitting in so long it feels like a novelty to sit. I just keep trying it to make sure it’s real. I woke up this morning pain-free, what a wonderful start to a day! I am a little sore but, the level of pain is totally manageable, it doesn’t even compare to the last few years. I can’t wait to come see you again next week.
Forever gratefully yours,
Sheri D.
To the Therapists,
I just wanted to let you know how I am feeling about your practice and the people that are working in your building.
I have been coming to your facility for a while now. I just need to tell you how much I like it!
When I walk into your building, I am greeted and welcomed by the lovely smiles I meet. The people talk to me like I am a member of their family. It makes me feel very comfortable and welcome! I am treated like an equal to the others there. I have never had anyone turn around and ignore me and I feel like I am an equal in your building.
Your staff dresses and talks professionally. Your office is nice and clean. I can hear jokes and laughter and a great atmosphere through the whole building the entire time I am there.
You and your staff listen and answer all the questions and concerns I might have. You make me feel comfortable enough to “really listen” to what you want me to hear. When you talk to me, I feel like I am a special person.
I would like you to know that I would recommend you and your staff to anyone that ever inquired about your services.
Thank you for all you do!
Respectfully,
Estella L.
To Laura and the whole team at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy:
I have thought about writing a letter to the editor so many times to tell the whole world that you guys are the best in the business – but it is also very personal to me and Austin – I am so glad that I found this site to write my thanks to you.
It was a year ago that Austin and I met you Laura. It seems so much longer than that. You were a Guardian Angel to Austin and I at a very difficult time. You not only are an amazing PT but you are a friend – someone who genuinely cares for and loves Austin. I can’t tell you how you were truly the light that kept Austin and I going. Having faith that he would walk again and most important to him – that he would play soccer again. I look back and can’t believe that first time we rolled into your office. Austin was in a wheel chair and couldn’t even hardly stand up and now a year later – he is playing soccer with his competitive team (scoring goals and running like he never hurt his knee) other than the ACL brace. 🙂 He also ran cross country and track and did great in both sports. I also attribute his mental toughness to you. I always thought that he would be really tentative and scared to really play aggressively again – but I was wrong! You gave him the strength and confidence to believe in himself and his abilities. you never talked about if he would play again, but rather when. That made all the difference to him because you believed in him.
I have told everyone that I come in contact with that needs a PT that YOU are the best. You’re creative with your workouts, you personalize everything, you know what will motivate them, your interest in every aspect of their recovery, your so funny and enthusiastic but most of all, you love your patients. Austin and I will be eternally grateful to you. You will always be special to us.
I am sending a couple of pictures of Austin on the soccer field a month ago. The header picture was Austin’s first goal since the injury last August. We will come by to see you – so you can see his progress yourself and know that he is where he is today because of you. You’re the best and we will always be grateful for all you have done for us.
Love Lori and Austin H.
“It was great having you at this year’s event to celebrate the local fundraising efforts for the ADA. Once again, your group and table was top-notch. I appreciate your continued support of the Corvallis Walk for Diabetes, both as a sponsor and Wellness Fair participant. We raised over $20,000 this year, in large part due to organizations like yours. Best wishes for continued success.”
Jason W.
Parwana,
Several months ago you relieved a pinched nerve in my left elbow and you suggested shoulder exercises to rehabilitate my left shoulder so that I could train the bench press. My training for the power-lifting meet went well and, as you can see, I exceeded my goal of 1100 pounds total. Thanks for helping me get back in the game and exceed my goals. I have already recommended you to several of my injured friends. I hope to avoid the need for therapy in the future so I thought I should send you a card to thank you.
Yours,
Walt R.
Dear Carrol,
I want to point out to you how helpful you have been. I am impressed with your abilities. You are a good teacher, a patient practitioner, an intuitive person and pleasant. Thank you for you help up to this point in my progress. Today I am making a two week calendar with my assignments from you. Hopefully I can make some new habits and lifestyle changes.
Sincerely,
Paula R.
Carrol,
Just wanted to give a much belated thank you for your care and interest in my health. Without your genuine efforts and expertise my infections would not have been picked up on and noticed. Thanks to you I am well on my way to getting back to enjoying life with a strong knee to support me in my adventures. You epitomize the healthcare professional who is truly passionate about their work.

Carrol,
To say “Thank You” would not be enough for all that you have done for me! You have helped me put my life back together in more ways than one. I will never forget what you have done for me. We all need more “Angels” like you taking care of us!!
Thank you so very much!

I want to “Thank You” not only for your skill in alleviating the pain and discomfort of my knee and back, but also for lifting my spirits. You are such a positive person! Thank you.

Laura’s knowledge, experience, and encouragement were imperative in my rehabilitation. Not only did she help me to regain lost strength and balance, but her expertise was instrumental in helping me reach my goal of returning to the active lifestyle I previously enjoyed. I had seen another physical therapist 3 years previously for the same injury and, in comparison, Laura was markedly better. She was on top of the latest exercises which helped me return to activities requiring cutting motions and agility. I have and will continue to recommend her to my friends.

Laura, Parwana, and Staff,
Thanks again for your participation in the ’05 Diabetes Walk Health Fair. Your presence helped make our even fun and enjoyable for the 300+ walkers. With your support we raised over $30,000 towards diabetes research, education, and advocacy. I look forward to having Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy as part of an even bigger and better Health Fair next year. I also look forward to visiting your clinic and working with you to improve the health and fitness of the older adults in our community.
Sincerely,
Jason W.

Hey Laura,
I just wanted to tell you that Andy is doing great this soccer season. He is having very little pain in his knee and is keeping up with his stretching program on his own! I credit you with his motivation to improve. Thank you! I also wanted to thank you for taking such good care of Austin Haslam. He is on Andy’s soccer team and they are good friends of ours. We have been really worried about Austin this fall and are so glad to see him improving. Lori has nothing but good things to say about you! I’m so glad they chose you for his therapist.
By the time these boys are in high school we’ll probably have half the team in your office at this rate! (gosh I hope not!!) I’ll probably bring Andy in for a follow up sometime soon.
Thanks again!!
