Laurel Wolfe Wawrzynek
PT, DPT
Laurel is energetic and engages fully with her patients, using evidence-based exercise, muscular re-education, stretching, strengthening and manual therapy to help her patients achieve their goals and get back to what they love to do.
Laurel’s physical therapy experience has included patients recovering from a wide variety of injuries and surgeries in various settings. These being an outpatient facility, a skilled nursing facility, and working with moderate to severely disabled children at the School for Blind Children, all in Pittsburgh. Laurel has a passion for working with those who are on their feet all day working physically in their jobs. This may be partly because between high school and college, she spent a year working on organic farms in France, Italy, and the US, and between college and PT school she spent a year in France teaching English in a public high school.
She was also fortunate enough to study under Kindra McDougall, DPT at Corvallis Sport and Spine Physical Therapy. Laurel has always had a passion for music and dance, and the healing it brings through motion. She began playing violin at age 4 and continued into college and sang in choirs for years. She started dancing at age 12, which turned into a lifelong love for dance. In college she joined the circus club, OCircus, where she performed on aerial silks and trapeze.
Education:
>Doctor of Physical Therapy at Chatham University in Pittsburgh PA
> Undergraduate Studies in Environmental Studies and Dance at Oberlin College in Oberlin Ohio
In her free time, you can find Laurel continuing to pursue her love of circus, dance and gardening.
